Patron Announcement

The NSW Guild of Craft Bookbinders is excited to announce Darryn Schneider as our Bind27 Patron.

Darryn has made an outstanding contribution to bookbinding in Australia and internationally through his YouTube channel, DAS Bookbinding. His videos demystify many aspects of bookbinding and book restoration for a wide audience. They benefit the entire bookbinding community by encouraging people to learn the craft while also serving as a valuable resource for experienced binders who want to see how other practitioners approach different binding structures and techniques.

Darryn Schneider began bookbinding as a hobby in 1990, studying with June McNicol at the Queensland Bookbinders Guild. He moved to Canberra in 1991 to complete his postgraduate studies in plasma physics. After working in Antarctica and Berkeley, California, he returned to Brisbane in 2009, where he reconnected with June McNicol and the Queensland Guild. By then, his bookbinding interests had shifted towards the history of the craft and in 2020 he decided to turn his hobby into a real business and started posting his first videos on YouTube.
